Peer Review Process
Economics Development (Ecdev) employs a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the research published. The steps in the review process are as follows:
1. Submission of Manuscripts
Authors submit their manuscripts electronically through the journal's submission system. Each submission is assigned a unique manuscript number for tracking purposes.
2. Initial Manuscript Evaluation
Upon receipt, the editorial office performs an initial check to ensure the manuscript meets the basic requirements of the journal, including format, length, and adherence to the journal’s scope and guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors for correction before peer review.
3. Assignment to an Editor
The manuscript is then assigned to an editor with expertise in the relevant field. The editor evaluates the manuscript's suitability for the journal and decides whether to send it out for peer review.
4. Invitation to Reviewers
The editor selects and invites potential reviewers who are experts in the subject matter of the manuscript. Typically, 2-3 reviewers are invited to provide their independent assessment.
5. Response to Invitations
Invited reviewers respond to the invitation. Those who accept the invitation are provided access to the manuscript and the review guidelines. Those who decline are often asked to suggest alternative reviewers.
6. Review Process
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including originality, methodology, significance, and clarity of presentation. Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommendations for the manuscript, indicating whether it should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
7. Reviewers' Reports
Reviewers submit their reports to the editor. These reports typically include constructive feedback, suggestions for improvement, and a recommendation regarding the manuscript's suitability for publication.
8. Editor's Decision
Based on the reviewers' reports and their own evaluation, the editor makes a decision on the manuscript. Possible decisions include:
- Accept: The manuscript is accepted as it is or with minor revisions.
- Minor Revisions: The authors are requested to make minor changes to the manuscript.
- Major Revisions: The authors are requested to make substantial changes and resubmit the manuscript for further review.
- Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.
9. Communication with Authors
The editor communicates the decision to the authors, providing the reviewers' comments and any additional feedback. If revisions are requested, the authors are given a deadline to submit the revised manuscript.
10. Revision and Resubmission
Authors revise their manuscript based on the feedback received and resubmit it to the journal. The revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation, or the editor may make a decision based on the revised submission.
11. Final Decision
Once the manuscript meets the journal's standards and all revisions are satisfactorily addressed, the editor makes a final decision to accept the manuscript. The authors are notified, and the manuscript moves into the production phase for publication.
12. Publication
Accepted manuscripts are copyedited, typeset, and published in an upcoming issue of the journal. The authors are provided with proofs for final approval before publication.
Economics Development (Ecdev) is committed to a fair and transparent peer review process that upholds the highest standards of academic integrity. We thank our reviewers for their invaluable contributions to maintaining the quality of our journal.
