Peer Review Process
Education Development (Eddev) employs a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, relevance, and integrity of the research articles it publishes. The process is designed to provide constructive feedback to authors and to assist the editorial team in making informed decisions on manuscript submissions.
1. Submission of Manuscripts
Authors submit their manuscripts electronically through the journal’s online submission system. Each submission undergoes an initial screening by the editorial office to ensure it meets the journal’s scope and formatting guidelines.
2. Editorial Assessment
Upon passing the initial screening, the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor evaluates the manuscript's suitability for peer review. Factors considered include the manuscript's alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, originality, significance, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
3. Assignment of Reviewers
If the manuscript meets the initial criteria, it is assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject area. Reviewers are selected based on their knowledge of the topic and their ability to provide insightful and unbiased evaluations.
4. Peer Review
Reviewers critically evaluate the manuscript and provide detailed feedback on aspects such as:
- Originality: Assessing the novelty and uniqueness of the research contribution.
- Methodology: Evaluating the appropriateness and rigor of the research methods used.
- Significance: Determining the relevance and potential impact of the findings in the field of education development.
- Clarity and Structure: Providing feedback on the clarity, organization, and coherence of the manuscript.
5. Reviewer Recommendations
Based on their assessment, reviewers make one of the following recommendations:
- Acceptance: The manuscript is suitable for publication in its current form.
- Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires minor revisions to address specific concerns raised by the reviewers.
- Major Revisions: The manuscript requires significant revisions and may need to undergo a second round of peer review.
- Rejection: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards and is not suitable for publication.
6. Editor’s Decision
The Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor evaluates the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, considering the overall quality and scholarly merit of the manuscript. Based on this assessment, the editor makes a decision:
- If the decision is to accept or revise the manuscript, authors receive detailed feedback to help them improve their work.
- If the decision is to reject the manuscript, authors are provided with reasons for the decision.
7. Author Notification
Authors are promptly notified of the editorial decision along with reviewers’ comments. For manuscripts that require revisions, authors are given specific guidelines and a timeline for resubmission.
8. Revision and Resubmission
Upon receiving revision requests, authors revise their manuscripts addressing all reviewers’ concerns and comments. Revised manuscripts are then re-evaluated by the editor and, if necessary, by the original reviewers to ensure all issues have been adequately addressed.
9. Final Decision
Once the revised manuscript meets the journal’s standards, it is accepted for publication. Authors are informed of the final acceptance and provided with information regarding the production process.
10. Publication
Accepted articles are copyedited, typeset, and published online in the next available issue of Education Development (Eddev). Articles are immediately accessible to readers worldwide, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge in the field of education development.
Education Development (Eddev) is committed to maintaining a fair, transparent, and efficient peer review process to uphold the quality and integrity of the research published in the journal.
